Delivery of New Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
This ambulance Trust wanted to establish a new HART and this had to be achieved on a cost neutral basis and with no negative impact on key performance targets.
A challenging project on so many levels:
- Budget – £3.7m
- Timescales – 1 year
- The assurance that the Unit would be ‘Trust integrated’ and not become elitist
43 ‘hard to find’ paramedics needed recruiting and training, a new secure building required procurement and fit out in just 14 weeks and specialist kit for those in the unit needed sourcing. Practicus was engaged to support delivery and operational readiness.
This project was delivered on time and under budget. GWAS now has its HART unit and is responding to 90 callouts a month. The implementation is considered an example of best practice by the DOH and has resulted in a GWAS CEO award.
