About Practicus sponsor coaching

Few sponsors have been on a training course in how to sponsor programmes effectively or how to get the most out of their PMO. We work with leadership teams to realise their potential in the leadership of change projects across organisations.

We provide a highly pragmatic and interactive approach, where we sensitively relate the work to real situations rather than theoretical ones. This brings the discussion to life and embeds learning successfully.

Our coaching will:

  • Improve sponsor understanding of change, programmes and the PMO
  • Support better decision-making to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Enable sponsors to better champion across the project and programme portfolio
  • Help protect and elevate the sponsor when responding to surprises and the unknown

How sponsor coaching works

Every client is different and we always tailor the coaching to your goals and objectives.

However, a typical work package of sponsor coaching will involve:

Discovery

Initial ‘discovery’ with key stakeholder(s) to establish goals of the training and specific areas of need

Individual sessions

One-to-one sessions with Business Owners and Sponsors)

Group sessions

Interactive group sessions (on site preferably)

Reflect on observations from the group session with key stakeholders of the training

Relate observations and opportunities to real in-flight projects.

Provide specific focus on:

  • Understanding key roles and accountabilities including Business Owner and Sponsor
  • Partnership working with PM/ delivery leads
  • Challenging green RAGs
  • Focus on benefit release and realisation
  • Engagement with escalations
  • Managing good quality governance meetings
