Changing the HR culture in a charity
This complex and well-known charity has partnered with Practicus for the recruitment of over 15 important personnel across its divisions. All placements have been made throughout the UK and are typically Senior to Mid-level management and ‘Head of’ roles.
As a charity, it required a trusted partner that had proven experience of working within its specific sector and had the capability to source quality candidates within the HR and People Management arena. It engaged Practicus to support its ambitions in changing its current HR culture. To improve staff experiences within the organisation and implement a new HR strategy across its 6 regions. As a result, the charity required a number of Director and mid-management personnel to drive the new strategy forward and implement it within the regions. Following a successful partnership focussed on Programme Management and Change requirements, Practicus was engaged to deliver the following permanent roles:
- People Director
- People Advisor – Scotland
- Regional People Lead – Wales, West and Isle of Man
- Regional People Lead – Scotland
Under the direction of the new People Director placed by Practicus in October 2023, it was important the new People Leads and Advisors had the relevant experience and geographic proximity to be able to drive the new HR strategy through communication, collaboration and improved working practices. The organisation had previously been unsuccessful in its recruitment campaigns to source candidates.
Due to the remote nature of the placements, we approached the search proactively, conducting a thorough deep-dive of our regional networks in those areas as well as using job boards, social media and passive candidate activities. We measured the success of the contract by the time-to-hire metrics where we were able to reach a wide diversity of talent resulting in the placement of 3 permanent candidates within 6 weeks in Scotland and 10 weeks in Wales.
Benefits:
- The quality of the candidates surpassed the charity’s previous searches to fill the roles. This resulted in a significant improvement in the skillset availability within the HR department to be able to implement the new strategy on a regional basis.
- The charity benefited from an increase in capacity in the regions.
- Engaging Practicus meant the HR department could focus their time on the new strategy and process improvement.
