Gary was engaged to deliver the study for a critical programme to replace the payments engine to minimise risk, maximise compliance and control and create a robust, scalable payments platform to support future growth. He led the delivery team onsite, heading the analysis teams for both the SWIFT Gateway consolidation and the Strategic Payments Engine replacement projects.
This involved defining the Payments Capability Model to structure the workstreams by capability required, rather than by system functionality. This enabled the team to align with SMEs by function, assign clear ownership to the deliverables for approval and work efficiently. His team also delivered the Scope Specification, Terms of Reference, Business Principles, Use Cases including activity and sequence diagrams, Business Scenarios, End-to-end Payment Flows and the associated Accounting Model.
Gary worked very closely with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure a consistent message across all deliverables from the programme and the combination has enabled both the vendor and the bank’s application teams to provide high confidence estimates for the next phases of the programme.
- Structured the CIO team to deliver effectively to the programme
- Defined and agreed a clear work breakdown structure and assigning accountability for its delivery
- Enabled planning, budgeting and prioritisation decisions
- Identified and managed all programme stakeholders
- Agreed and delivered clearly defined deliverables on time and to budget
- Owned the vendor relationship and define the engagement model
- Worked collaboratively with all associated parties
- Presented intention, approach and progress to senior executives and PMO on a regular basis
- Responsible for ensuring the Business requirements have been delivered successfully in the solution and to the satisfaction of the Business.
