Over 150 senior NHS professionals gathered on Friday to discuss the challenges faced by the health service at a networking evening hosted by Practicus.
The outcome delivery partner chose vintage warship HMS Belfast as the location to host the evening, a British icon that has survived many battles, much like the NHS. It served as an iconic vantage point from which to appreciate the Thames skyline and enjoy a relaxed barbecue and wine tasting. The event provided interim managers and clients with an informal opportunity to discuss their proposals and theories as to how the NHS will make the necessary efficiency improvements and cost savings.
Practicus CEO Jason Luckhurst commented, “Just as HMS Belfast is a unique part of our heritage, so is the NHS. It’s a precious British institution which everyone who attended is truly passionate about. Most of us have relied on the NHS in times of illness, and we all cherish the value it provides day in day out.
“It’s no secret that the unchartered waters that lie ahead for the health service are going to be challenging at best, and extremely painful at worst. My belief is that the current austerity measures will impact the NHS and we have already seen this with the operating framework reducing 30% of management costs.”
Despite the hurdles faced by the health service, the mood was upbeat, and delegates focused on positive actions to get the NHS back on an even keel.
