Creating HR Shared Services (UK) - Nationwide Building Society

Understanding a major HR initiative and delivering an efficient, high-quality solution.

The relationship began in October 2006 during a restructure of Nationwide's HR function, when an HR Shared Service was being planned. The underlying driver for this work was to enable HR to better support the business and enhance its credibility within the organisation. This was a high profile initiative and one the company needed specialist project expertise to deliver.

Nationwide initially engaged Practicus to provide a HR Transformation Programme Director to set up the HR Shared Service - a requirement that had stood for quite some time with the existing suppliers and was now in urgent need of filling with the right calibre of individual. We were the only business to provide a suitable person. 

By March 2007, our Programme Director had formalised the structure for the HR Shared Service - instigating much needed change. The success continued and in the following 18 months, the Practicus team expanded to 40, working across all areas of this HR transformation.
