Change improvement for Central Authority

THE PROJECT

Improved ability to deliver organisational change across the NHS.

THE CHALLENGE

A central UK authority wanted to find an appropriate tool to help NHS CEOs gauge their organisation’s ability to deliver transformational change. Practicus was tasked with supporting them.

THE ENGAGEMENT

This work was sponsored by the policy and planning unit of the authority that helps the NHS identify best practice, particularly around project and programme management. It wanted to harness the benefits of a structured approach. Quite apart from governance, this would ensure local health communities had sufficient staff to support consistent change delivery.

Over a one month period the Practicus NHS team conducted leading edge research, reviewing organisation assessment tools used within the NHS and comparing them with industry best practice tools. The team interviewed 22 senior NHS stakeholders and built an interactive model for recommended use. This culminated in a report outlining comparative analysis between tools.

THE OUTCOME

Practicus made recommendations on which tools would be best suited to the NHS with a suggested approach. This was supported by examples of where they’d been successfully deployed.
